On August 22nd the weekly Music City Roots<\/strong> Live Radio Show was dedicated to Bluegrass<\/strong>. It featured bands who contributed a track to the Putumayo<\/strong> Bluegrass CD that has been published recently.<\/p>\n

Putumayo<\/strong><\/a> has been founded in 1993 and has published many CDs with music from all over the world. Here’s the beginning of the text from the Putumayo website:<\/p>\n

Putumayo World Music was established in 1993 to introduce people to the music of the world\u2019s cultures. The label grew out of the Putumayo clothing company, founded by Dan Storper<\/strong> in 1975 and sold in 1997. Co-founder Michael Kraus<\/strong> joined Storper to help launch Putumayo World Music. In the past eighteen years, the record label has become known primarily for its upbeat and melodic compilations of great international music characterized by the company\u2019s motto: \u201cguaranteed to make you feel good!\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Alison Brown had contributed a banjo piece for the second Putumayo CD that has been published. Not for the first time bluegrass music was the topic of a complete Putumayo CD. On this CD you can hear well known musicians like Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan or David Grisman, but also young bands like Railroad Earth, Town Mountain, Uncle Earl and Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen.<\/p>\n

Stars and new discoveries demonstrate the universal appeal of this quintessential American roots music.<\/p>\n

Putumayo announces the May 22nd release of Bluegrass, <\/em><\/strong>an engaging collection featuring many of the genre\u2019s most renowned artists along with exciting new discoveries. The album is Putumayo\u2019s first venture into the world of bluegrass and includes Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan<\/strong>, David Grisman <\/strong>and other stars alongside some of today\u2019s up-and-coming young groups like Railroad Earth<\/strong>, Town Mountain <\/strong>and Uncle Earl<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Music City Roots<\/strong> produces a two hour country and bluegrass show every Wednesday. The shows are broadcast live and at the same time are streamed on the internet. The shows take place in the Loveless Cafe in Nashville. All the shows are also recorded and available on the Music City Roots website.<\/p>\n

Music City Roots, Live From The Loveless Cafe is a weekly, two-hour radio show that revives the historic legacy of live musical radio production in Nashville. Broadcast on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm, CST, Music City Roots, Live From The Loveless Cafe showcases Nashville’s astonishing music scene, from country and Americana to more progressive interpreters of tradition — a “roots and branches” format that brings together fans of different tastes and generations. Presented live from the stage of the Loveless Barn, this show will showcase purveyors of authenticity across many genres.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All four bands have played fantastically, it has really been a great show. I have watched the show in parts, every day I watched the performance of one band – you can jump within the show easily and so you can watch the best parts again and again.<\/p>\n
