{"id":3716,"date":"2011-11-13T13:15:03","date_gmt":"2011-11-13T11:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mandoisland.com\/?p=3716"},"modified":"2018-03-08T17:29:58","modified_gmt":"2018-03-08T15:29:58","slug":"south-carlina-tickle-by-adam-geibel-a-nice-tune-for-the-mandolin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mandoisland.com\/?p=3716","title":{"rendered":"South Car&#8217;lina Tickle by Adam Geibel &#8211; A nice tune for the mandolin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I have discovered a nice piece for the mandolin &#8211; the cakewalk <strong>South Car&#8217;lina Tickle<\/strong> by <strong>Adam Geibel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I found this when I played through\u00a0 a collection of mandolin pieces that was published as the <strong>Majestic Collection<\/strong> at the beginning of the 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Geibel lived from\u00a0 1855 until 1933, so the copyright for his works has expired.<\/p>\n<p>Some of his compositions can be found in the IMSLP library, but not the <strong>South Car&#8217;lina Tickle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I have found a scan of the sheet music for piano from a link on the website\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ragtimepiano.ca\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Classic Ragtime Piano<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The scan was made by the Duke University and can be found on the following page:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/library.duke.edu\/rubenstein\/scriptorium\/sheetmusic\/b\/b03\/b0376\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/library.duke.edu\/rubenstein\/scriptorium\/sheetmusic\/b\/b03\/b0376\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the page with the South Car&#8217;lina Tickle from the Majestic Collection that I have found on the Nakano website (click image for full size):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mandoisland.de\/weblogbilder2011\/south_carlina_tickle01.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 10px;\" title=\"South Car'lina Tickle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mandoisland.de\/weblogbilder2011\/south_carlina_tickle01.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"408\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a>A Midi file of the South Car&#8217;lina Tickle is available here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pitt-payne.com\/component\/remository\/?func=fileinfo&amp;id=3400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/pitt-payne.com\/component\/remository\/?func=fileinfo&amp;id=3400<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Another famous song composed by Adam Geibel is <strong>Kentucky Babe<\/strong>. I have found several versions of this song, one of my favorites is this great performance by the <strong>Voices of Liberty<\/strong> in historical costumes.
