Like in Germany <strong>regional mandolin orchestras<\/strong> have been organized to improve the skills of the players of the local mandolin orchstras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011 there was a workshop for a <strong>national mandolin orchestra<\/strong> with <strong>Florentino Calvo<\/strong> and <strong>Vincent Beer-Demander<\/strong> teaching mandolin and mandola, and <strong>Jean-Marc Zvellenreuther<\/strong> teaching the guitar. Mandolin and guitar players from France could apply to take part in this workshop.<strong><br> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote><p>Stage national d&#8217;orchestre \u00e0 plectres<\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: x-small;\"><strong>en partenariat avec Ars Nova ensemble instrumental<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Cet orchestre a pour vocation de r\u00e9unir des musiciens de toute la France, afin de cr\u00e9er un ensemble de haut niveau qui puisse \u00eatre une vitrine et un ambassadeur de la pratique plectrale. C&#8217;est \u00e9galement un outil de promotion de la pratique collective des instruments \u00e0 plectres.<\/p><div id=\"corp\">\n<ul>\n<li>Direction : <strong>Philippe Nahon<\/strong> , directeur musical de l&#8217;ensemble Ars Nova<\/li>\n<li>Mandole\/mandoloncelle :<strong> Florentino Calvo<\/strong> , professeur de mandoline au P\u00f4le sup\u00e9rieur d&#8217;enseignement artistique de Paris\/Boulogne Billancourt et au CRD d&#8217;Argenteuil, et mandoliniste de l&#8217;ensemble Ars Nova.<\/li>\n<li>Guitare :<strong> Jean-Marc Zvellenreuther<\/strong>, professeur de Guitare au CNSM de Paris et au CRR d\u2019Aubervilliers\/La Courneuve, et guitariste de l&#8221;ensemble Ars Nova.<\/li>\n<li>Mandoline :<strong> Vincent Beer Demander<\/strong>, titulaire du Dipl\u00f4me d&#8217;Etat d&#8217;instrument ancien, professeur de mandoline au CRR de Marseille et \u00e0 l&#8217;Acad\u00e9mie de Mandoline de Marseille dont il assure la direction artistique.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>I have found videos of the\u00a0 <strong>Orchestre \u00e0 Plectres du Sud-Ouest<\/strong>, the regional mandolin orchestra from the south-west of France, conducted by  <strong>Florentino Calvo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This regional orchestra has played an interesting program with original compositions for mandolin orchestra. In 2009 the orchestra has played during the <strong>Week of the Mandolin (Semaine de la Mandoline)<\/strong>.
