I have met him during a workshop of the German Mandolinorchestra (Deutsches Zupforchester) in Eichstätt (Bavaria), and several times when he played the solo part for pieces by Heinrich Konietzny or the Vivaldi Mandolin concerto with the mandolin orchestra of Baden (Badisches Zupforchester) or other mandolin orchestras in Germany. Takashi Ochi was a very friendly and nice person, but also a very good teacher and he helped me very much to improve my mandolin technique. During the 60s and 70s he was probaly the most influental mandolin player in Germany. I have last met him at the Eurofestival Zupfmusik in Bruchsal this year.

I have found only two videos related to Takashi Ochi at the moment – I hope that some more videos will be added in the future:

Hermann Prey – Komm liebe Zither, KV351 – W.
