John Mock and Humming House * Live on Nashville…

I am just listening to a great concert on the Nashville Public Radio:

On this week’s program, multi-instrumentalist and composer John Mock presents his own music. Then, we welcome Justin Wade Tam and Humming House, with their mix of folk, blues, and bluegrass with pop sensibilities.

If you have time you should listen to this concert as long as it is available. There are also some videos taken during the concert.

Nashville Public Radio:

John Mock plays his own compositions on several instruments in this concert: guitar, concerina, flute and mandolin. He is also known as a photographer and tells, that he shows his pictures while he plays his concert. You can find more information about John Mock on his homepage

About John Mock – from his homepage:

John Mock is an artist and the sea and its coasts are his muse. From New England to Chincoteague to Ireland, the Atlantic’s beautiful coastline and quaint villages, its wooden boats and whitewashed lighthouses, continue to inspire and inform John’s art. He captures in music and in photographs the heritage of the sea.

Uncle Earl – Americana / Oltime / Roots Music…

Uncle Earl is currently touring through Germany, last Friday the group composed of five women played their second concert of this tour. During the next weeks the group will play in Germany and Switzerland. All tour dates can be found on the myspace site of  Uncle Earl:

UNCLE EARL Live in Germany 2010

The concert in Freiburg took place in the Wodan Halle, part of the local Ganter brewery that is regularly used for folk, country, bluegrass, rock or  singer songwiter concerts. I enjoyed the concert very much, and I took some photos which give some impressions:

Larry Keel and Adam Aijala – A Flatpicking Guitar…

Larry Keel and Adam Aijala are two great guitarists who play in various bands and styles. I have dicscovered them as a duo from a podcast which is no more available. Larry Keel and Adam Aijala have played as a duo in 2009 and 2010.

You can find a recording of a concert of Larry Keel and Adam Aijala in good quality on the website:

Larry Keel

From his bio on the official hompage:

Over the years Larry Keel has become a world-class flatpicking guitarist, and that talent has earned him legendary status with fans and the highest respect amongst his musical peers. In recent performances Larry has led bands involving such industry icons as Tony Rice, Jack Lawrence, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Curtis Burch (New Grass Revival), Vassar Clements, Joe Craven, Jim Lauderdale, Eddie Adcock;

Adam Aijala

Adam Aijala plays guitar in the Yonder Mountain String Band (YMSB). On their homepage I found the following:

As a young teen, Adam loved skateboarding and listening to punk and hardcore music.

He learned power chords first, playing dozens of short punk tunes. In his early years of high school, he added metal bands like Metallica and Slayer to his repertoire. Shortly after, Adam’s musical tastes began to shift. He began listening to Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and even the Grateful Dead. Desiring a new sound, Adam picked up his first acoustic guitar at age 17.

I have compiled a playlist with Larry Keel and Adam Aijala, but the audio quality is not so good on most of the videos.
